Description
Attacks on apiaries, in areas where beekeepers are not accustomed to the presence of bears, can create serious risk situations for this species, catalogued as “critically endangered”, due to possible reprisals.
When a bear locates an unprotected apiary, the attacks are repeated and spaced out over time. Therefore, the destruction of part of the apiary can affect the complicated life cycle of the bees, even compromising the very survival of the colony, and with it the beekeeping practice.
