Description
The Iberian wolf (Canis lupus signatus) is an emblematic species in Spain. Psychosocial factors such as threat perception, social representations and stereotypes influence attitudes towards this species. The polarization and mediatization of the problem, added to the differentiation between urban and rural environments, generates a socio-environmental conflict.
So far, various entities have managed the situation, with agreements such as the Mesa de la Coexistencia de la Ganadería Extensiva y el Lobo Ibérico de La Rioja (April 2022). These efforts urge us to continue to bet on participatory and conciliatory processes, avoiding polarization in media and politics, as happened in other autonomous communities.
