Description
La Caperuza is a farm in Bustarviejo (Madrid), combining extensive breeding of 100% Malagueña goats (190 head) and Serrano cows (60 head), with a regenerative grazing system guided by GPS virtual fencing. Created in 2019, it is also developing environmental education initiatives, focusing on the challenges of ganadería extensiva.
Against a backdrop of recolonization of the territory by the Iberian wolf, a key species in agrosystems, the project aims to reconcile the ecological benefits of its presence with the challenges it represents for livestock farming. The use of technologies such as virtual enclosures helps to keep herds grouped together, reinforcing their defensive instinct and reducing the risk of attack, while facilitating a more serene cohabitation with wild fauna.
