Historique

The management of large wildlife is always a reflection of the relationship we maintain with our natural environment, which is essential to our balance and well-being. It represents a complex challenge that requires collaboration between various stakeholders to create lasting solutions that respect both the needs of human populations and the preservation of biodiversity.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is committed to reconciling human activities with biodiversity conservation by supporting initiatives that promote harmonious coexistence with wildlife. Since its creation, it has supported various international projects focused on this theme, mobilizing resources and partners to ensure the sustainability of ecosystems while taking local realities into account.

In 2024, the Foundation launched the Human-Wildlife Initiative in the Suisse Romande region, in collaboration with its technical partners such as the KORA Foundation, the PRONatura organization, and the Swiss Ornithological Station. The main goal of this initiative is to develop innovative and practical solutions to better integrate wildlife into land management, while involving local populations in this coexistence process.

These solutions include awareness programs, protective measures tailored to species and territories, and scientific studies to better understand the dynamics between human communities and wildlife.
