Description

In the Southern Alps, climate change is profoundly altering ecological dynamics: water scarcity, unstable winters, and changes in the behavior of species such as the wolf, which is adapting its hunting and movement strategies. Against this backdrop, livestock breeders in the Vésubie and Valdeblore highlands, who are already under heavy predation pressure, are struggling to understand and anticipate pack movements in their territories. Although work has been carried out in the core zone of the Mercantour National Park, little is known about the outlying areas. This project aims to fill this gap by combining scientific and field knowledge, in order to better identify wolves and their movements. The aim is to strengthen mutual understanding, adapt protection practices and ease tensions surrounding human-wildlife cohabitation.
