Description
This is the second phase of the project started in 2020 and supported by the Human-Wildlife Initiative. Mathilde Delaup, as part of her Master's thesis in ethology, plans to expand the database already obtained by interviewing farmers in new territories and also other groups of individuals who interact with wildlife (hunters, shepherds, naturalists, local residents). The assessment will focus on perceptions and attitudes related to two types of behaviour: the willingness to leave animal carcasses in the field (while farming or hunting, for scavengers to feed on), and the intention to illegally persecute wildlife.
Building on the results of the first study, two types of outreach activities will be conducted:
Organisation of meetings between farmers in order to discuss various problems linked to wildlife,
Drafting of an awareness-raising document on scavengers and livestock activities.
